Coming soon now is the fourth Cotswold Food and Drink Festival held in our town. From fairly humble beginnings this is slowly but steadily growing into a major event in the West and we believe is raising the profile of our town and businesses within it. You might be surprised to learn that the committee making this all happen comprises of just a handful of willing volunteers who, in addition to their main jobs put in hours of hard work pulling this all together
In our first year there were just 12 stalls at the Sunday market, the following year it went to 20, then 30 and this year already is in excess of 40 varied and exciting food drink and related offerings, all coming together on Sunday 26th September in, under and around our beautiful Market Hall.
We have lots of other food related happenings and you can get more information by visiting our web site www.tetburyfooddrinkfestival.co.uk. The Tetbury Tourist Information Office will be the main point of reference for tickets.
We are thrilled that Rob Rees MBE, the Cotswold Chef will be visiting local schools this year as part of the Festival – he has been a stalwart supporter and brings a breath of fresh air and common sense along with a great deal of fun for all ages on the subject of simple health and good food for all.
Many of our events are free, so you can book to tour a local vineyard, take a turn round Home Farm or get involved with bread making, or pizza making or watch a cookery demonstration from a celebrity chef such as Telegraph Columnist and author Xanthe Clay or the Queen of Posh Nosh Uma Wylde, all for no cost. Other events such as the Wine tasting evening, Food Quiz, Ale and Cider Day are all very reasonable and many of our local Hotels, Pubs and Restaurants will be offering special menus throughout the period. If you want to push the boat out then there will be a very special trip round Highgrove Gardens followed by Pimms and nibbles. The Gloucestershire Old Spot Sausage Appreciation Society will be gathering on the 22nd September to start everything off.
Fingers crossed for good weather, good fun and excellent business opportunities for all involved.
